Musa Panti Filibus

Musa Panti Filibus (* 1960 ) is a Nigerian Lutheran clergyman. He is Archbishop of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria ( English Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria - LCCN), and since May 2017, the 13th president of the Lutheran World Federation .

Live and act

Musa Panti Filibus studied Lutheran theology in Nigeria and the USA and was ordained a pastor in 1994 . In 1998 he received his doctorate ( PhD ) in pastoral theology at the Luther Seminary of the ELCA in Saint Paul, Minnesota .

From 2002 to 2010 he was regional officer for Africa in the Department for Mission and Development (AME) of the Lutheran World Federation in Geneva . In 2010 he was appointed Director of the Department for Mission and Development and in 2012 he was appointed Deputy Secretary General. In 2013 he was appointed Bishop of the Mayo Belwa Diocese ( Adamawa State ) of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria and was elected Archbishop of the Church in 2016. On May 13, 2017, he was elected President of the Lutheran World Federation at the General Assembly in Windhoek (Namibia).

He is married to pastor Ruth Filibus. The couple has three grown children.
