The Museum Fluxus Plus (spelling museum FLUXUS +) is Potsdam's first museum for contemporary and modern art . With an extensive private collection of works by Wolf Vostell and works by contemporary artists such as Mary Bauermeister , Costantino Ciervo , Lutz Friedel , Hella de Santarossa and Sebastian Heiner, the focus is on the Fluxus movement. The museum was opened in April 2008 and is located on Schiffbauergasse in the listed former hussar horse stables on Tiefen See .

background

The Berlin entrepreneur and art collector Heinrich Liman got to know the painter, sculptor, Fluxus and happening artist, graphic artist, composer and video artist Wolf Vostell in 1982 . Through his friendship with Vostell, Liman made the acquaintance of other Fluxus artists of the founding generation of the 1960s, such as Benjamin Patterson , Emmett Williams , Nam June Paik and Ben Vautier . Vernissages and Fluxus concerts were held on the premises of the collector's company. From 1989, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, these activities intensified. For example, art salons were organized to revitalize vacant old town quarters in the former East Berlin. Other Berlin-based artists came into the circle of acquaintances. These include Costantino Ciervo, Lutz Friedel, Hella De Santarossa, Sebastian Heiner and Ann Noël.

Against this background and with the aim of making a contribution to social and cultural education, Liman opened the Museum Fluxus Plus on April 21, 2008. Around half of the approx. 700 collection exhibits are presented in the permanent exhibition. It is varied by temporary special topics.

The “plus” in Museum Fluxus Plus stands for the inclusion of artists from the Fluxus area. In order to enable a view of today's interpretations of Wolf Vostell's maxim "Life is art, art is life", contemporary artists are exhibiting their works.

In order to maintain the museum in the long term and to further develop its content, the non-profit, unincorporated Museum Foundation Liman was founded in 2017. The museum is operated by museum FLUXUS + gGmbH at Schiffbauergasse in Potsdam.
