Music in the Mountains is a television program with music and information that has been broadcast at irregular intervals by Bayerischer Rundfunk since 2013 . It is moderated by Sonja Weissensteiner .

The presenter is out and about with a hiking backpack in the most beautiful areas of the Alps . In the 90-minute program, she meets interesting personalities and discovers old crafts, regional delicacies and traditions.

The musical design, mostly from the folk music genre, is carried out by singers and musicians from the region visited.

Broadcast sequence

Between 2013 and 2017, between one and three episodes were produced per year, five in 2018, two in 2019 and two in 2020. The first broadcasts ran from 2013 to 2016 on Fridays at 8.15 p.m. and from 2017 on Sundays at the same time. Repetitions were mostly made on Saturday afternoons, sometimes with half-length cuts.
