Must have been Tokyo ( MHBT for short ) was a Swiss indie rock band from Bern . The band released on the Zurich electro-clash label Alpinechic . MHBT broke up in 2010 after some founding members left the band.

music

The band is considered "one of the most promising rock bands in Bern in recent years" (Seite3.ch). MHBT achieved first successes with the electroclash album Insects in Milan and Paris. The style of MHBT has been compared to Gang of Four , Joy Division , The Cure , Interpol and Franz Ferdinand . With the album Vice the band has developed stylistically towards Wave, Psychedelica and Americana.

MHBT played concerts a. a. with Peaches , The Gossip , Ladytron , Cazals , The Sunshine Underground , Yousayparty! Wesaydie! , Jeans Team and Disco drive . Notable appearances in Switzerland were those in 2010 at the Bright.Lights Party at Club X-Tra in Zurich and in 2011 at Bad Bonn Kilbi in Düdingen.

The cover for the promo CD "Songs about Lizards" was designed by the Bern graphic artists Karin Grossen and Daniel Ehrensperger. The mastering of Vice was made by Greg Calbi . The music video for the song "Street Kids" ( Vice ) is a work by Samuel Textor (Direction / Script) and Tobias Bühler (Camera / Edit).

Trivia

The music magazine 78s counted the MHBT band photo among the ten best Swiss band photos of 2009.
