Mustafapaşa , formerly Sinasos, is a Turkish small town ( belde ) with 1775 (2009) inhabitants five kilometers from Ürgüp in the province of Nevşehir in Cappadocia .

The majority of the Greek Orthodox population (known as rum) before the population exchange had achieved considerable prosperity. This came from the caviar trade between Russia and Europe, for which immigrants from Sinasos to Istanbul had a monopoly. The merchants from Sinasos who had become wealthy then retired in their homeland. The place had an impressive number of 40 churches. Before the population exchange, 600 Orthodox, but often Turkish-speaking ( Karamanlı ) families and around 150 Turkish-Muslim families lived here . Instead of the rum, people of Macedonian mother tongue and Muslim faith from the area around Kastoria , especially Grevena , were settled. These initially made up more than half of the population.

Rum resettled from Sinasos to Greece founded Nea Sinasos (Greek: Νέα Σινασός) in the northern part of the island of Evia .

To the south of the city is the Damsa dam .
