Mutant Proof is a German alternative rock band from Dortmund , North Rhine-Westphalia , that was founded in 2014.

history

The band was founded in autumn 2014 by former backlash singer Gerald Manns and the former guitarist of the Phantoms of Future , Dirk Schwarzer, who found each other through a personal ad . Oliver “Spoon” Höfler, a former guitarist with Powerball and Hungöver, joined them a little later. In Gerald's younger brother Roland's, who already at Backlash and Reggatta De Blanc, a Police - tribute band played, the band found the perfect drummer.

With this line-up, the band recorded the debut album Mutant Proof in the summer of 2017. The album was produced by the legendary mastermind Siggi Bemm (producer of, among others, Tiamat , Kreator , Udo Lindenberg , Peter Maffay ) in the Hagen Woodhouse Studios. The album was released on April 7, 2018 on Woodhouse Records.

Roland Manns left the band in summer 2018 because he couldn't identify with the hard style of the music. The new drummer was Bobby Schottkowski , former drummer for Sodom and current drummer for Tank . In December 2018 Dirk Schwarzer left the band to devote himself to other projects. In February Guido Girsch was introduced as the new guitarist. Girsch played a. a. already with Honigdieb, Custard and the Idiots .

style

In addition to the very elaborate guitar work, the very clear vocals are striking. A closer look at the album Mutant Proof shows that the band can do a lot more than just hard riffs. The album offers a wide range of musical styles. There are sound mixes from punk, metal and hard rock. Songs like Gimme Some Time , Not Your Affair or Ravished Girl appeal to the listener with strong and burning sounds. These songs have power and go deep in the ear. But Mutant Proof can also do different things and with Brave the Strom and This Barren Land delivers melodically mature and ballad-like songs. Honest and clear words form the lyrics of the ten songs that can be found on the album. Well-positioned perspectives on current topics reflect experiences and emotions.
