Myristoleic acid is an organic compound from the group of alkenoic acids ; it is a monounsaturated fatty acid in the group of omega-5 fatty acids . The monoenoic acid is one of the minor fatty acids .

She comes esterified as triacylglycerol in animal fat and fish oil , blubber and spermaceti and in some plant species and butter present in small amounts to about 3%. It is contained in large quantities of up to approx. 25% in the seed fat of various nutmeg plants (Myristicaceae) ( Pycnanthus spp.), From which its common name is derived.
