The formation founded around the solid core Emilio Winschetti (vocals), Lutz Worat (organ), Ingo Erlhoff (saxophone) and Rüdiger Klose (drums) mixed - similar to Foyer Des Arts , Die Zimmermänner or Hall 2 - elements of New Wave , Pop and hits together. The group operated with the term meta-hit. This made myths in bags one of the pioneers of the commercial NDW.

The debut single, Lady Di (Text excerpt, published in 1981 Charlie Let'd rather fly, those are old nonsense ) at the Hannover label No Fun Records , which by the journalist Hollow Skai and the members of the group Hans-A-Plast was operated and was known more for humorless German punk . A short time later followed the debut LP Die neue Sammlung (release: August 21, 1981), which u. a. Contains a parody of DAF's Der Mussolini ( The Tortellini ).

After the hit-style single Liebe im Funkhaus , the follow-up LP was released, Every time is different . Here the formation offered more experimental sounds that had hardly anything to do with the NDW hit of the debut. Since the boat sales company filed for bankruptcy just at the time of publication, the few pressings were sold on the grave tables a few weeks later. Since No Fun Records was out of breath, nothing more was done for this LP. There was almost no media reception and the LP is now considered a “lost album” that achieves collector prices. Soon after the album was released, the group broke up.

Ingo Erlhoff lives as a professional musician in Munich and plays a. a. in the Veterinary Street Jazz Band and in the Salsa Big Band Wawancó .

Rüdiger Klose (* 1952; † 2010) played after dissolving myths in bags in bands such as Exit Out , The Cocoon , Castrated Philosophers and Dakota.

Emilio Winschetti founded the band Mint in 1984 with Rüdiger Klose , from which Mint Addicts have since emerged . However, Winschetti became better known as a radio DJ for programs such as Graffiti ( WDR ) and Emilios Rohmix ( Radio Bremen ), and through his collaboration with Tom Redecker as The Perc Meets the Hidden Gentleman . In December 2005 he gave a concert in Stockholm with the new band project BPWW ( Beate Bartel , Martin Peter, Thomas Wydler , Emilio Winschetti) . Due to the sudden death of guitarist Martin Peter on May 15, 2006, there could not be a continuation in this line-up.

After the dissolution of myths in bags, Lutz Worat worked as a freelance journalist and founded the advertising agency signo · Kontor for concept and communication in Hanover in 1999 .
