The Näätämöjoki ( Norwegian Neidenelva , North Sami Njávdánjohka ) is a 100 km long river in Finnish Lapland and Troms og Finnmark in Norway .
geography
The Näätämöjoki drains Lake Iijärvi in the far north of Finland and flows from southwest to northeast to the Neidenfjord , which merges into the Varangerfjord and the Barents Sea . The river flows for the most part through a completely lonely and inaccessible natural landscape. Lakes and short sections of gorges alternate.
The towns of Näätämö and Neiden , which used to belong together, are located on the river and gave it its name in both languages.
Touristic
The Näätämöjoki is a popular fishing river as well as a river with a high degree of difficulty for multi-day canoe trips.
