The NIC Assen was an international horse show that started in 2009 in Assen , the Netherlands . The full name of the tournament was Noorderlijk Internationaal Concours hippique Assen , but it was mostly referred to as NIC Assen.

As part of the tournament, national and international tests in show jumping as well as national tests in dressage were held. The tournament took place. takes place in October, the venue is the TT Hall in Assen. The 60th edition of the NIC, planned for 2015, did not take place. In 2016, too, no tournament was held due to too few sponsors and too few spectators in previous years.

NIC by 2008

Until 2008, the tournament was mainly organized by BCM and held in Zuidlaren , a few kilometers north of Assen .

In February 2010, the first Jumping International Zuidlaren , a CSI 3 *, was held at the previous location of the NIC, the Prins Bernhardhoeve (Prinz-Bernhard-Hof) in Zuidlaren . Here, too, national and international tests in show jumping as well as national tests in dressage were held.

The highlight of the jumping competitions is the Grote Prijs van Drenthe (Drenthe Grand Prix), an international jumping competition with jump-offs . This will be held on Sunday afternoon.

The highlight of the dressage is the Grand Prix Freestyle, which has been held on Sunday evening since 2009. Previously it was held on Sunday morning.
