Nabas (officially: Municipality of Nabas ; Filipino : Bayan ng Nabas ; Aklanon and Malaynon : Banwa it Nabas ) is a Filipino municipality in the province of Aklan .

geography

Nabas is located on the Buruanga Peninsula on the northwest tip of Panay Island . The Sibuyan Sea borders the coastal community in the north . To the south it borders on the municipalities of Pandan and Libertad in the Antique province . It borders the Sibuyan Sea and the Ibajay Municipality to the east, and Malay and Buruanga to the west . Portions of the Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park are in the parish territory.

Nabas Bariw Festival

The Nabas Bariw Festival is celebrated in memory of the local saint Saint Isidore. It takes place annually from May 12th to 15th. Hats, mats and other bariw products are shown.

During this event, the various methods of making mats, hats and bags will be demonstrated. A special event is a competition to make the largest hat and mat. The highlight of the event is a street parade with dance performances by costumed folklore groups from the 20 barangays, accompanied by local bamboo instruments.
