Coordinates: 11 ° 14 ′ N , 122 ° 6 ′ E Antique is a province on the island of Panay , which belongs to the island nation of the Philippines . Antique has an area of 2,729.17 km² and 582,012 inhabitants (as of August 1, 2015). The capital of the province is San Jose de Buenavista . In the east of the province are the Central Panay Mountains, which rise to over 2,000 meters above sea level.
language
Hamtikan and Ilonggo is the language in the southern area around the capital San Jose. Kinaray-a is spoken in the north.
Attractions
In the Antique region, these places are worth visiting: Danawan Cave, Panao Lake, and Pula Waterfalls. In the north of Antiques the Bugang River (one of the cleanest rivers in the Philippines), next to it the white-golden sand beach (Phaidon Beach) in Tingib / Duyong, Pandan. A sunken coral garden (Punta Pucio) is located in Libertad. To the south is the Igpasungaw waterfall (Sebaste), islands for snorkeling and diving are in Mararison , Batbatan , Maniguin and the Caluya Islands . Parts of the Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park are in the province.
