Mararison Island is an island in the Antique Province of the Philippines . It is located off the west coast of Panay Island in the Cuyo Est Passage, a sea area in the north of the Sulu Sea . The island has an area of approx. 0.65 km² and is administered by the municipality of Culasi . The island is inhabited; In 1995 there were 512 inhabitants. According to the 2007 census, 578 inhabitants were registered. Malalison Island is one of the 44 barangays (roughly parishes) of the city of Culasi.
Mararison Island is surrounded by numerous coral reefs and seagrass beds. The small island of Nablag lies off its western coast. The ten coral reefs cover an area of approximately 2.33 km², the sea grass meadows cover an area of 20 hectares. The Gui-ob Reef in the south of the island is an artificial reef that has been declared a Gui-ob Conservation Area. The coral reefs in the north of the island rise steeply from the sea floor, while the reefs in the south and west rise relatively flat with moderate slopes 5 to 10 meters to the reef crest.
