The Gigantes Islands ( English Gigantes Islands ) is a group of islands in the Philippines . The group of 12 islands located in the Western Visayan Sea , about 26 km northeast of the island of Panay . The small archipelago belongs to the administrative area of the municipality of Carles and thus to the province of Iloilo .
The Gigantes Islands are uninhabited and consist of the two main islands Gigantes Norte and Gigantes Sur. Ten other smaller islands and rocks are Balbagon, Cabugao Daku, Cabugao Gamay, Waydahon, Bantigue, Bulubadiang, Gigantillo, Gigantona, Ojatras and Gakitgakit and are grouped around the main islands. The islands can be reached from the fishing ports in the Barangay Bancal and from the municipality of Estancia . The drive from Bancal Bay to the two main islands takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
The islands have some tourist points of interest, such as white sandy beaches, towering cliffs and numerous cave systems.
