The Bancal Bay is a shallow bay in the northeast of the island of Panay in the Philippines , the communities at the Balasan and Carles are.
It is a sea bulge in the west of the Visayas Sea . There are numerous islands in front of it, the largest of which are the islands of Gigantes , Binuluangan , Calagnaan and Sicogon . The coastline of the bay has a mixture of mangrove forests and mud flats . In the interior of the island there are numerous fish ponds, some of which are used for aquaculture . Numerous smaller rivers and streams flow into the bay. The bay is known for the occurrence of the mussel species Spondylus barbatus , Malleus maleus , Placuma sella and the wing snail Strombus canarium , which are traditionally collected in the intertidal zone and retrieved by divers in deeper water .
The bay has a tropical and humid climate with no dry season. The driest months are November to April, the rest of the year there is sometimes heavy rainfall.
