Production and Background
The first season of the series was shown in 2019.
The interior shots of the series were taken in the former Heckeshorn Lung Clinic in the Wannsee district of Berlin.
The exterior shots of the hospital show the real St. Marien Hospital in Cologne not far from Cologne's main train station, but which in the series bears the fictitious name "Klinikum Köln West" or "KKW" for short. When the crew smokes a cigarette on the roof terrace after the end of their shift, for example, while reviewing the night, you can see the Basilica of St. Kunibert in the background , which is why the hospital was once called "Kunibert Monastery". Various locations in Cologne are also shown (e.g. Hohenzollern Bridge , Musical Dome at Cologne Central Station, Rudolfplatz, etc.).
On August 9, 2019, the first season was released on DVD.
Before the last episode of the first season was broadcast for the first time, it was announced that a second season would be produced. The seven-person main cast of the format, consisting of Ines Quermann, Mimi Fiedler, Oliver Franck, Sila Sahin-Radlinger, Nassim Avat, Valerie Huber and Marc Dumitru, should also be part of the second season.
In addition, it was announced in autumn 2019 that, in addition to previous actors, the former GZSZ actor Linda Marlen Runge , the former Unter Uns actress Sarah Hannemann and the former Verbotene Liebe actress Jana Schölermann will be part of the cast of the new season.
Juliette Greco (formerly an actor on Alles Waswas ) and Oliver Petszokat (formerly an actor on Gute Zeiten, Bad Zeiten ) each played a leading role in the second season.
On June 30, 2020, actor Nassim Avat mentioned that his play partner Oliver Franck accidentally broke his nose while shooting a fight scene.
