The Nagaragawa Stadium ( Japanese 長良川競技場 , Nagaragawa Kyōgijō , long form: 岐阜メモリアルセンター長良川競技場, Gifu Memoriaru Senta Nagaragawa Kyōgijō ., Eng Gifu Memorial Center Nagaragawa Stadium ) is a football stadium with athletics track in Gifu Memorial Center of the Japanese city of Gifu , region Chūbu . It is the home ground of the soccer club FC Gifu .
history
It was originally intended to be the largest athletics stadium in the city, but is mainly used for football. In addition to football, the stadium is also used for rugby and hockey . The facility was opened in 1991, extensively renovated from 2009 to 2011 and today offers 31,000 seats. 17,540 seats are available, 9540 of them in the main grandstand and 13,460 on the grassy ramparts.
It is the start and finish point of the Gifu Seiryū Half Marathon , which has been held annually in April / May since 2011 . It was also the venue for two group matches and a quarter-finals of the U-17 World Cup in 1993 .
