The Nagler See (also Nageler See) is a six- hectare , artificially created reservoir directly in the municipality of Nagel in the district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtelgebirge (northeast Bavaria), which emerged from a mill pond . It is a protected natural monument .

history

In 1694, the mill pond was named in a description of the property of the Fahrbach manor (now the municipality of Tröstau ), and a grinding mill was operated with its water power (until 1926). In 1836 government councilor Theodor Fikentscher, owner of the Fahrbach manor, sold the mill pond and the associated fishing rights in Steinlohbach to the miller Schindler von Nagel. In 1856 it was bought by master miller Johann Babtist Sticht, whose descendants are still the owners.

Tourist development

A comfortable circular route leads around the lake, the Franconian mountain path , Quellenweg and Jean-Paul-Weg lead past it. Leisure activities include boating and swimming, and ice stock sport in winter.
