Naomi van As

Naomi Frances van As (born July 26, 1983 in The Hague ) is a former Dutch hockey player. She won three Olympic medals.

Career

Naomi van As made her debut for the Dutch national team in 2003 . The midfielder won her first major title at the 2006 World Cup with a final win over Australia . In 2008 Naomi van As was part of the Dutch team at the Olympic Games , which won against the Chinese hosts both in the preliminary round and in the final , with Naomi van As scoring the first goal in the final. In 2010 the Dutch team lost to Argentina in the final of the World Cup .

In 2012 Naomi van As won the Olympic Games in London , in the final the Dutch defeated the Argentine world champions. In 2014 the World Cup took place in front of a home crowd in The Hague , in the final the Elftal won against Australia. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , the Dutch team reached the final again, where they lost in the shootout against the British .

Naomi van As has played more than 160 caps for the Netherlands and scored 35 goals. In May 2017 she ended her sporting career in the MHC Laren jersey.

Since 2013 she has been the presenter of the program Zappsport at the radio company AVROTROS .
