Nasser Ghanim Al-Khelaifi ( Arabic ناصر الخليفي, DMG Nāṣir al-Ḫulaifī ; Born November 12, 1973 in Doha ) is a Qatari businessman and former tennis player . Among other things, he is president of the French football club Paris Saint-Germain .
Act
In June 2011, Al-Khelaifi became chairman of the investment company Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), which was founded in 2003 and focuses on the sports and leisure market. A month earlier, QSI had bought shares in the French football club Paris Saint-Germain from Colony Capital for around 30 million euros, and debts were covered with a further 20 million euros. On November 4th, Al-Khelaifi was appointed Chairman of the Board of PSG.
Since 2013 he has been CEO of the beIN Media Group , a Qatari media group that belongs to the Al Jazeera Media Network . Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani , who actively played tennis with Al-Khelaifi, appointed him minister without office that same year .
He is also President of the Qatari Tennis Federation and one of the Vice Presidents of the Asian Tennis Federation .
Tennis career
From 1992 to 2002 he played 45 games for the Qatari Davis Cup team . In singles he won twelve of his 43 games, in doubles twelve out of a total of 28. With eight wins together in doubles, he and Sultan Al-Alawi formed the most successful duo in Qatari Davis Cup history. On the ATP World Tour he played two games each in singles and doubles. In 1996 , when he started the tournament with a wildcard , he lost in the first round in St. Pölten in the individual competition to Thomas Muster in two sets. In 2001 he also received a wild card for the tournament in Doha . He failed in the opening round to Oleg Ogorodov . He started doubles in 1993 and 2001 in Doha in the doubles competition. Both times he didn't get past the first lap here either.
