Oleg Ogorodov (born July 16, 1972 in Tashkent ) is a former Uzbek tennis player .

Career

Ogorodov initially celebrated successes on the second-rate Challenger Tour . He won four singles titles in his career and seven more doubles. He was also able to win a title on the ATP Tour : in 1999 he won alongside Marc Rosset at his home tournament in Tashkent . Before that, he was in another ATP final in Chennai in 1997 . In Grand Slam tournaments , he reached the second round at the French Open in 2002 , which is his best result. He reached his highest single place in the world rankings on May 13, 1996 with position 101. In doubles he reached position 102 in July 1997.

In 1996 he took part in the Summer Olympics in Atlanta . He competed in both singles and doubles. In the singles he met the Hungarian Sándor Noszály in the opening round , whom he defeated in two sets. In the second round he had to admit defeat to the American MaliVai Washington just as easily in two sets. In the doubles competition he was already defeated in the opening round at the side of Dmitri Tomashevich without a fight to the Czechs and Jiří Novák and Daniel Vacek .

Ogorodov played a total of 29 games for the Uzbek Davis Cup team between 1994 and 2003 . Both his individual record with 36:14 wins and his double record with 17:10 wins are positive. With a total of 53 victories, he is the most successful Davis Cup player in his country and also the record player.
