Natalie Glebova ( Russian: Наталья Владимировна Глебова , born November 11, 1981 in Tuapse as Natalia Vladimirovna Glebova ) is a Russian - Canadian beauty queen and 2005 winner of Miss Canada and Miss Universe .

Life

Glebova was born in Tuapse , Russia . She plays classical piano and was taught at a professional music school when she was 12 years old. She also won various regional championships in rhythmic gymnastics . She immigrated to Toronto , Canada with her parents when she was 13 .

She worked as a model and received her Bachelor of Commerce degree in IT management and marketing from Ryerson University in Toronto. She also worked as a motivational speaker in elementary schools and high schools .

In April 2007 she married the Thai tennis player Paradorn Srichaphan , whom she met in 2006 at the Thailand Open . They have been divorced since 2011.

In 2008 she took part in the reality game show The Amazing Race Asia 3 and reached eighth place with her partner Pailin Rungratanasunthorn.

Beauty pageants

The first time Glebova took part in 2004 in the Miss Canada election and reached fourth place. The following year she ran again and won the election.

As Miss Canada , Glebova took part in the Miss Universe election in 2005. Every time she performed, she performed the traditional Thai gesture of wai . With this she secured the sympathy of the Thai audience and jury members, won the election and was crowned the second Canadian Miss Universe .
