Natalio Agustín Pescia (born January 1, 1922 in Avellaneda , † November 11, 1989 ibid) was an Argentine football player who was active the entire time of his career with the Boca Juniors and won the Argentine championship three times.
Career
Club career
Natalio Pescia, born on New Year's Day 1922 in Avellaneda in the province of Buenos Aires , began his footballing career in 1942 with the club to which he was to remain loyal throughout his career, the Boca Juniors from the La Boca capital district . In his second year at the club, Pescia, who was playing the position of midfielder, won the Argentine football championship with his team. In the Primera División they ranked in first place with one point ahead of defending champion River Plate at the end of every matchday . In the following season, the team of coach Alfredo Garassini , which included players such as Jaime Sarlanga , the Uruguayan Severino Varela or Mario Boyé , defended the 1943 title win. Once again, they finished first in the Primera División, this time with a two-point lead over River Plate. In the following years, however, the Boca Juniors finally had to admit defeat to this competitor and at times also to the Racing Club . It took until 1954 before one could again achieve the title of Argentine football champion. In said season it was enough to take first place in the top Argentine football league with a lead of four points on the second-placed CA Independiente from Pescia's hometown Avellaneda.
Two years later and without another title win, Natalio Pescia ended his football career at the age of 34. Previously, in fourteen years he had played 347 league games for Boca Juniors, placing him sixth on the list of players with the most appearances in the Boca Juniors jersey.
National team
From 1946 to 1954 Natalio Pescia also came to twelve international matches in the Argentine national football team , where he did not succeed in scoring. Due to the Second World War and the missed qualification of Argentina for the Soccer World Cup in 1950 and the edition of 1954 , however, he missed participation in a World Cup. But Pescia was in the line-up of Argentina, which had won the Copa America in 1947 .
