Carl Ernst Eberhard Benda (baptized April 9, 1764 in Gotha ; † January 11, 1824 in Berlin ) was a German actor and singer and the youngest child of the composer Georg Anton Benda .

After Carl EE Benda lost his mother at the age of four, he was raised in Gotha by his aunt, the singer Anna Franziska Benda (1728–1781), married to the violinist Dismas Hataš . Around 1782 he came to his oldest brother, the violinist and composer Friedrich Ludwig Benda (1752–1792), in Ludwigslust. Then he went to Berlin to his brother Heinrich ("Henrici") Benda (* 1754; † before 1806), violinist and innkeeper, who had married the widow of the inn owner Johann Ludwig Döbbelin, brother of the actor and theater director Karl Theophil Döbbelin . They all lived on Behrenstrasse, where Karl Döbbelin ran the Döbbelin Theaterhad founded. Here Carl EE Benda made his debut in 1785 as Fritz in the comedy Der Hofmeister by Heinrich Gottfried Reichard (after Carlo Goldoni ) and was later a permanent member of the Berlin Court Theater and the Royal National Theater.

Among the godparents of his six children, who appeared in children's roles, were the then well-known ensemble members Ferdinand Fleck , Henriette Baranius , August Wilhelm Iffland , Johanna Henriette Eunicke (later Henriette Hendel-Schütz ). Two daughters were trained by Iffland and placed at the Breslau Theater around 1803: Sophia Carolina Benda (1787–1844) and Louisa Wilhelmina Justina Benda (* 1798). For 1824 a "musician" Joseph Benda was found in Wolfenbüttel , whose stated age corresponds to the son George Joseph Ferdinand Benda (concertmaster Joseph Benda was the uncle godfather of the younger children of Carl EE Benda).

After Georg Anton Benda died on November 6, 1795 in Köstritz, Carl EE Benda bought the majority of his father's estate there on behalf of his siblings who were still alive, so that the most important musical items could remain in the possession of the immediate family.
