Ludwig Andreas Gotter
Ludwig Andreas Gotter (born May 26, 1661 in Gotha ; † September 19, 1735 there ) was a German hymn poet and lawyer .
Life
Gotter was born as the son of the court preacher and general superintendent Johann Christian Gotter (1607–1677). From 1719 Ludwig Gotter was secret secretary in his hometown . He later became court and assistant councilor and minister . Gods composed hymns that are shaped by the spirit of Halle's (older) Pietism . In the witty hymn book , published in Halle in 1697 and in Darmstadt in 1698, he published his songs anonymously at first. The songs were spread by Johann Anastasius Freylinghausen , who included nine more songs by Gotters in his Geistreiches Gesangbuch of 1704 and fourteen in the New, witty hymnal of 1714.

Ludwig Andreas Gotter's son was the archivist and legation councilor Heinrich Ernst Gotter (1703–1772), his grandson of the writer and poet Friedrich Wilhelm Gotter . The well-known diplomat Gustav Adolf von Gotter was his nephew. Ludwig Andreas Gotter was married to Rosina Elisabeth Körner (d. 1727) for the third time. Its epitaph has been preserved to this day in the cloister of the Gotha Augustinian Church .

Ludwig Andreas Gotter found his final resting place on Gotha Cemetery I (also called Alter Gottesacker ) between Werderstrasse (today Bohnstedtstrasse) and Eisenacher Strasse. When the cemetery was cleared in 1904 for the construction of the Stadtbad and Arnoldischule , his gravestone disappeared.
