Benda (families)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Apparently there are two independent families of musicians under the name Benda . In the 18th century, a number of composers and virtuosos from a family of musicians from Bohemia are known. Another family of musicians with the same name has been known since the 19th century. It apparently goes back to the merchant Joseph Bendix, who lived in Silesia in the late 18th century. This family of musicians, Benda, has produced a number of successful interpreters and music teachers since the 19th century and has been committed to the music of their pre-classical namesakes to this day.
