Nathanael Matthäus von Wolf (born January 28, 1724 in Konitz , † December 15, 1784 in Danzig ), called Nathaniel Matthew Wolf in English-speaking countries , was a Pomeranian- Prussian , German botanist , doctor and astronomer . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Wolf "; earlier the abbreviation " NM Wolf " was also in use.

Life

Wolf was a member of the Danzig Natural Research Society and bequeathed his collections to it. He also contributed significantly to the construction of an observatory. On April 10, 1777 he was elected as a member (" Fellow ") in the Royal Society .

The doctor Phillipp Adolph Lampe from Gdansk gave the memorial speech on May 10, 1785 ("H. v. Wolf was born on Jan 28, 1724 in Conitz in West Prussia") to the Society of Natural Sciences in Gdansk.
