The necropolis of Calancoi -Sos Saltos are rock tombs located about two kilometers east of Sassari in the province of Sassari in Sardinia . The seven Domus de Janas ( German  "Houses of the Fairies" ); also known as ( Italian Necropoli ipogeica ), are only a few hundred meters from the SS 127 (which connects Bunnari with Osilo ).

description

The cemetery the ozieri culture extends over about 220 m at a limestone slope that dominates the valley. The multi-cell rock graves consist of three to eight interconnected chambers. Three plants are of particular importance. In them, architectural elements such as fireplaces, pilasters , false doors and lintels are carved into the rock in bas-relief to create an environment that looks similar to the place where the respective deceased spent their life. Two pairs of curved bull horn reliefs in naturalistic style are present in Tomba IV and VI.

Based on the architectural and decorative elements, the necropolis is dated to the late Neolithic Ozieri culture (3500-2900 BC).

Nearby is the Sos Laccheddos necropolis .
