Career

Gonçalves da Costa played for Arminia Ochtrup in his youth , where he was watched by FC Twente. In the youth of the Tukkers he was considered a great talent and in 1999, after finishing secondary school at the age of seventeen, he signed a five-year contract in Enschede, where he did not make the breakthrough. He was part of the first team of FC Twente from 2002 and played seven competitive games in the 2003/04 season (six league games and one cup game). On August 12, 2003 Gonçalves da Costa made his debut in a cup game against VVOG. That was his only start in the XI during his time at Twente. In August 2004 he made his last appearance for FC Twente in a cup match against Sparta Nijkerk . A month later he went on loan to the Go Ahead Eagles Deventer .

Gonçalves da Costa played 22 games in the Eerste Divisie for the team from Deventer . However, he knew that he would not get a contract there. When his contract with FC Twente ended in 2005, he found a new club in Germany: FC Eintracht Rheine . With this team he was in the Oberliga Westfalen until 2008 , then relegation to the Westfalenliga followed . In 2009 Gonçalves da Costa moved to Borussia Emsdetten, which also played in the Westphalia League. In October 2009, he was removed from the squad by his coach, who was dissatisfied with his performance. In the same month Gonçalves da Costa received the Trainer A license from the German Football Association .

In January 2010 he moved to SuS Neuenkirchen , for which he was active in the first team in the Westphalia League and in the second team in the district league until the end of April 2012.
