Nembrionic was a Dutch grindcore and death metal band from Zaanstad , which was founded in 1988 under the name Nembrionic Hammerdeath and disbanded in 1999.

history

The band was formed in 1988. Two years later, drummer Noel Derek Rule van Eersel and guitarist Dennis “Gor Gho Phon” Jak joined the line-up. Then a first demo appeared in 1991 under the name Lyrics of Your Last Will . The group also contributed the song In Your Own Hell for the sampler And Justice for None . The publications were followed by appearances with Nocturnus , Confessor , Consolation , Grave and Altar . In 1992 the group signed a contract with Displeased Records . In January 1993 the EP Themes on an Occult Theory was released , which was followed by appearances as the opening act for Pestilence . In the same year there was also a split release with Consolation. Then the group went on a tour of Europe with At the Gates . In 1995 the debut album Psycho One Hundred was released . The group had meanwhile renamed itself Nembrionic, whereby it consisted of the singer and guitarist Marco "Thorgrim" "Bor" Westenbrink, the guitarist Dennis Jak, the bassist Jamil Berud and the drummer Noel Derek Rule van Eersel. In 1996 Briljant, hard en geslepen , a collaboration album with members of the band Osdorp Posse, was released . The album reached number 29 on the Dutch album charts. Both bands performed at Dynamo Open Air that same year . In 1996, Nembrionic was also seen at the Pinkpop Festival and appeared in June as a support act for Slayer at Paradiso . The next year the EP Bloodcult was released, which consists of the EP Themes on an Occult Theory , an old previously unreleased song and three new songs. The recordings for this took place on November 17, 18 and 24, 1992 in the Beaufort Studio . The EP had a circulation of 1,800 copies. In 1998 the album Incomplete followed. The following year the band broke up.

style

Eduardo Rivadavia from Allmusic assigned the band to grindcore. On Psycho One Hundred they had incorporated some death metal elements, Briljant, Hard & geslepen he described as experimental deathcore . Anthony van den Berg assigned the group to Death Metal in a separate edition of Metal Hammer from 1991. According to Claudia Pajzderski from the same magazine, the band on Psycho One Hundred plays ordinary grindcore, which is extremely fast and has extremely deep vocals .
