Neograeca Medii Aevi

Neograeca Medii Aevi ( Latin ; German: "Modern Greek things, objects of the Middle Ages") is the title

  • a scientific publication series founded and edited by the same in 1987 with the files of the first congress

On the modern Greek literature of the Middle Ages, that is to say on the vernacular (as opposed to the high-level) literature of the Byzantine and post-Byzantine periods (from the 12th to the 17th centuries), the language form of which represents a development stage of the Greek language that many researchers consider Modern Greek (see Greek language question ).

Apart from the first congress, which was subsequently published as the first in the series of publications, the congress and publication series are not identical.

The series of publications

The Neograeca Medii Aevi series of publications includes editions critical of the text, commentaries and translations of vernacular texts from the Byzantine and post-Byzantine periods up to the 18th century, as well as related studies on the history of tradition, philology, linguistics and reception history.
