Neos Marmaras ( Greek Νέος Μαρμαράς ( m. Sg. ), 'New Marmaras') is a small town in the municipality of Sithonia in the northern Greek region of Central Macedonia . The place is located on the Toronean Gulf in western Sithonia on the Chalkidiki peninsula . Together with eight hamlets and settlements as well as the uninhabited islands of Spalathronisia , Neos Marmaras forms the most populous district of the municipality.

Nikiti is about 23 km north, Toroni about 20 km south of Neos Marmaras. The distance to Thessaloniki is approx. 135 km, to Nea Moudania it is approx. 60 km. Neos Marmaras is located on four hills of a peninsula at the western foot of the highest point of Sithonia, the Itamos (811 m height). South of Neos Marmaras, a small plain extends at the foot of the Itamos to the point where the Porto Carras holiday complex stands today. Northeast of Neos Marmaras is the old, now abandoned and now inhabited village of Parthenonas , which is located on the northwest flank of the Itamos.

The area of today's Neos Marmaras was also the site of the ancient settlement of Galepsos . After the decline of the city of Galepsos, probably in antiquity, the area of Neos Marmaras, which remained uninhabited until 1922, became orphaned. After that, Greeks displaced from Asia Minor settled in after the Greek defeat in the Greco-Turkish War and founded the village of Neos Marmaras, which means New Marmaras or New Marmaris .
