AdRem NetCrunch is a software solution for agentless, cross-platform network monitoring , by the company , Inc. AdRem Software was developed. The program can monitor 65 network services , Windows applications, Windows , Linux , NetWare , BSD , VMWare , Mac OS X systems and SNMP devices (v1-3) without installing an agent. In addition, NetCrunch centralizes error management by collecting events from various sources (including Windows Event Log, Syslog , WebMessages and SNMP Traps) and issuing warnings. The physical and logical network topologies are displayed by NetCrunch in dynamic, graphical map views that can be updated automatically.

Functions

Key features of AdRem NetCrunch:

  • Automatic acquisition - initial and regular acquisition and classification of network devices.
  • Network Views - represent physical and logical network topologies ; Predefined views: IP networks, routing cards, physical segments, servers, cards with problems and many more.
  • Event management - recognizes events from Windows Event Log, Syslog , WebMessages and SNMP Traps.
  • Monitoring Policies - contain rules that determine which events should be monitored and which data should be collected for subsequent reports. There are also predefined rules:
  1. Operating system - Windows ( Active Directory , Network Services Health, Security Audit, Terminal Services, Windows Server, Basic Windows Monitoring), Linux, Mac OS, BSD, Netware and others ( AIX , AS / 400 , MIB-II Host Resources).
  2. Hardware - network devices ( Nortel , Alcatel OmniSwitch, Cisco ), IBM Director, Dell OpenManage, HP Systems Insight Manager, APC PowerChute and many more.
  3. Applications - Microsoft ( Exchange 2013 , IIS 5.0 / 6.0 , ISA Server 2000, ISA Server , MS SQL Server 13.0 / 2016, MS SQL Server 2016), APC Windows Events, ARCServe, Lotus Domino Server , McAfee AlertManager, Norton AntiVirus 2013 / Internet Security, Oracle 11.2.0, Sophos AV and firewall, Trend Micro Titanium 2013 and many more.
  • Monitoring availability - of network devices and services ( HTTP , POP3 , SMTP , etc.).
  • Performance monitoring - real-time statistics, comparison of several servers in a graph, performance developments (of devices, systems and applications).
  • Long-term analyzes - reports can be received by email on request or automatically at certain intervals.
  • Remote access - via remote administration console and web browser.
  • Advanced Monitoring - Advanced monitoring of critical network components. The program simulates user actions such as sending e-mails to monitor POP3 services.
  • Smart Monitoring - the data traffic for monitoring special sub-networks can be limited.
  • Inventory - basic inventory information from Windows computers can be collected, including the mainboard, processor and memory. In addition, regular monitoring can be carried out and the installed software can be viewed.

operating system

Windows 2008 (x64) or higher is required to install the NetCrunch server . The NetCrunch remote administration console can be installed on computers with Windows 7 SP2 or Windows Server 2008 (x64). It is also recommended to use a virtual machine with at least 4 GB and 4 cores.

Versions

There are two versions of AdRem NetCrunch: Premium and Premium XE. The Premium XE version is designed for monitoring larger networks and should be installed on a dedicated server with Windows 2008 .

Application examples for NetCrunch Premium XE:

  • Network with over 1000 nodes to monitor their availability.
  • Network with over 1000 network services for monitoring availability.
  • Network with more than 100 servers and routers for performance monitoring.
  • Networks with sub-networks.
  • Networks with external servers connected via WAN.
  • Networks with switches from Cisco and Nortel.
  • Networks with MS SQL, Exchange monitoring of performance and trends.

languages

The following language versions are available: English, German, Polish, French and Japanese.

Technical overview

  • Client-server architecture - the user can operate the NetCrunch server from another computer via the remote administration console.
  • Multithreading - NetCrunch Premium XE enables multithreading to take advantage of the performance advantages of multi-core x64 computers.
  • Prioritized monitoring - the program automatically adapts the sequence and time intervals for monitoring nodes to the hierarchies of monitoring dependencies.
  • Event suppression - if an intermediate node fails, warnings from nodes further down the hierarchy are not forwarded.
  • SQL event database (up to 128 GB).
  • Web access - by implementing AJAX technology, server / browser interactions can run asynchronously without having to reload the GUI of the page.
