New Apostolic Church Walldorf
The New Apostolic Church on Synagogenstrasse in Walldorf , a town in the Rhein-Neckar district in northern Baden-Württemberg , was built as a church and rededicated as a synagogue in 1861 .
history
After the reformed church, built in 1716, had become too small for the Reformed community and moved into a new church, they sold the old building in 1861 to the Jewish community of Walldorf , who set up their synagogue there and used it until 1938. SA men demolished them during the November pogrom that year.
The building has served the New Apostolic Congregation as a place of worship since 1954 .
portal
During the renovation in 2002, the original portal inscription was put back in Hebrew and German: This is nothing more than a house of God and here is the gate of heaven ( Genesis 28, 17).
