Synagogue (Hockenheim)
The synagogue in Hockenheim , a community in the Rhein-Neckar district ( Baden-Württemberg ), was built in 1833. The synagogue , which was located at today's Ottostraße / corner of Rathausstraße, was completely destroyed by arson in the November pogroms on November 10, 1938 .
history
The Jewish community of Hockenheim , which already had a prayer room at the beginning of the 19th century, built a synagogue in 1833. After a district medical report from 1874 had determined that the space on the women's gallery , which only made up a quarter of the men's room, was too cramped and the air there was very bad, the cult community decided after a long hesitation to renovate Plans by the architect GA Schilling was executed in 1877.

During the November pogrom of 1938 , the synagogue was burned to the ground on November 10, 1938. The municipal utilities built over the ruins. With the expansion of the town hall around the year 2000, the property has now been rebuilt a second time.
Commemoration
Since 1979 the town hall has had a plaque in memory of the synagogue.
