The German literary magazine Neue Sirene was founded in 1994 and appears every six months. German and international literature is printed, the latter in the original language with a German translation . In this way, the magazine would like to “expand the stylistic and thematic diversity of contemporary international literature”. In addition, each number also contains art photographs . Bettina Hohoff is the editor.

Since volume 21 (2007) the Neue Sirene has been published as a book series under the title Wegweisende Literatur der Gegenwart ( ISSN  0945-9995 ). The concept of mixing German-language and international literature was retained. From volume 28 (2014) digital, printable editions will appear. A separate review section has been added. According to the editorial team , the following three groups of authors are placed side by side on an equal footing:

  • German-writing authors with a German mother tongue,
  • German writing authors of different mother tongues, and
  • Foreign-language authors whose texts are printed in the original language and in translation.

The new siren only publishes first editions, this also applies to well-established authors such as Jean Cocteau , Emily Dickinson , Imre Kertész , Eugenio Montale , Sylvia Plath and Rainer Maria Rilke . Every issue is preceded by an introductory editorial . The published authors include Adonis , Marcel Proust , Safiye Can , Michael Basse , Monika Dieck, Klaus Ebner , Michael Eisele, İsmet Elçi , Simone Frieling, Helga Gruschka, Claudia Höpfner, Dietrich Krusche , Gellu Naum , Lutz Rathenow , Wolfgang Sréter, Renata Zambrzycka, Liao Yiwu, Bülent Kacan, Jörg Neugebauer and others.
