Klaus Ebner
Klaus Ebner (born August 8, 1964 in Vienna ) is an Austrian writer and translator . He is the author of prose , essays and German and Catalan poetry .
Life
After graduating from high school in 1982, Ebner began studying Romance and German philology and translation studies at the University of Vienna . At the same time he was active in a literary association and worked from 1983 to 1986 on the Viennese literary magazine " TEXTE ". After graduating, he offered translation services, led language courses and worked on IT training projects. From 1998 to 2002 Ebner also completed the part-time course “European Economy and Management” at the University of Applied Sciences of the bfi Vienna .
Ebner lives and works in Schwechat . He is a member of the Graz Authors ' Assembly , the Austrian Writers' Association and the IG Authors 'Authors , as well as the Catalan writers' associations Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana and PEN Català.

Since the end of the school days, smaller prose texts, poetry and radio plays have been created . Ebner later dealt with Catalan linguistics and literature in several relevant specialist articles and reviews. He writes poetry in German and Catalan.
During the 1990s he published only a few literary texts, but wrote technical articles, mainly for the magazines Output / Eurocom in Austria , Inside OS / 2 in Germany and NT Update and AIX Update in Great Britain . He has also written non-fiction books on software and network topics for the publishers Data Becker , Markt & Technik , IWT, TEWI and Microsoft Press.
In the same decade he began the novel Feuers Geraun ; Two chapters from it were published in early versions by the Upper Austrian literary magazine Die Rampe : The writer of Aram 1994 and The law 1997. Jewish and biblical traditions are the focus of these two chapters. In 2007 a cultural and historical travel essay about the Pyrenees state Andorra was created . Since 2009 Ebner has also been appearing more and more as a reviewer. He published reviews in the magazines Etcetera , Driesch and Schreibkraft as well as in the online magazine Kultur-Online.

- In 1982 Ebner received the Great Austrian Youth Prize for the novella Das Brandmal . As a member of the jury, Hans Weigel highlighted the text. One year after the award ceremony, the novella was reprinted in several episodes of Israel's German-language daily Israel-Nachrichten .
- 1984 Radio Play Prize from the literary magazine TEXTE (3rd prize)
- 1988 First Austrian Youth Prize for the novel Nils
- 2004 La Catalana de Lletres 2004 Mention and inclusion of a Catalan poem in the competition anthology ( Barcelona )
- 2005 Feldkircher Poetry Prize (4th prize)
- 2007 Vienna Workshop Prize . The winning text Der Flügel Last , a short story, deals with the hospital stay of a seven-year-old girl suffering from cancer . The narrative style is based on the child's perspective. The winning text of the Essay category , entitled What remained of the White Knight? , gives an insight into the medieval novel Tirant lo Blanc by the Valencian Joanot Martorell .
- 2007 travel grant for literature from the Austrian federal government
- 2007 "Menzione" at the Premio Internazionale di Poesia Nosside ( Reggio Calabria ) The poem ein Zettler was mentioned and included in the competition anthology. The jury spoke of a metropolitan dreariness that is embodied by the homeless Zettler , whose meal consists of loneliness . The poem reads:
