Architecture and history

The first documented owner of the property was Merten Sartor in 1620, before the current building was erected. Today's three-storey baroque half-timbered house was built according to an inscription on the threshold ( HANNES + KESTENER ELISABETA + HEERHOLTZ + AO + 1677 + ) in 1677, probably by master carpenter Andreas Rühle . The clients were Hans Kestner and Elisabeth Herold. The narrower east side of the house , only five containers wide, faces Neuendorf Street. The north gable points to Steinholzstrasse. Originally, there was further development on this side. However, after a road breakthrough, this gable is free.

In 1693 the musician Matthias Riemann was the owner of the house, and the Christoph Andreas Schumann cobbler's shop existed at least from 1722. After several other owners, including a soldier, an invalid and gardener, it was used by the butcher Schadenberg from 1913. Later Friedrich Karl Schadenberg ran the butcher shop.
