Neun Welten is a dark folk band founded in Halle (Saale) in 2001 . Compared to other genre representatives, Neun Welten are characterized by their rich instrumentation (guitar, violin, cello, flute, clarinet, piano and drums in fixed line-up), their predominantly instrumental songs and their rock- influenced drumming. The band name refers to the Nordic mythology , more precisely to different worlds, which according to the Edda are connected by the world tree Yggdrasil .

history

Neun Welten was founded in 2001 by Meinolf Müller, Marten Winter and Chris Kallenbach, who played together in the black metal band Insomnia Astrorum. Chris left the group a short time later. David Zaubitzer (also Insomnia Astrorum) and Anja Hövelmann joined them. The new group was initially called 77 Trolls, but was renamed Nine Worlds a short time later. In 2002 the line-up was completed by Aline Deinert.

A live performance at the 2003 Wave-Gotik-Treffen led to a contract with the Prophecy Productions sub-label Auerbach Tonträger, on which the EP Valg was released in 2004 as the first official publication . As a result of the release of the record, Neun Welten played many concerts, including a. at the TFF Rudolstadt (2004) and the Elf Fantasy Fair (2005). In 2005, Neun Welten was also nominated as a newcomer for the RUTH World Music Prize. In October 2006 the debut album Forgotten Paths was released , as a result of which Neun Welten took part in the Creole competition in the Central Germany region and completed a tour of Germany with Tenhi (September 2007) and one with Dornenreich and Elane (October to December 2007).

The second album Neun Weltens, Destrunken , as well as Valg and Forgotten Paths, was recorded in the sound forge Studio E by Markus Stock and released in November 2009. Parallel to the album, the EP Twilight - Die Destrunken Demos was released , which contains demo versions of some album tracks and thus provides insights into the creation process of the music of Neun Weltens. A short time later, with the departure of Marten Winter and Anja Hövelmann, the band announced the first major line-up changes since their existence. In 2010 an exclusive song from Nine Worlds appeared on the compilations Whom The Moon A Nightsong Sings and Maere .
