history

Neunstetten was first mentioned in a document in 1222. Since the place already had a church with its own pastor at that time, it probably existed centuries before. The present church was consecrated in 1758.

In 1968 Neunstetten was struck by a hail disaster, in which 90% of the harvest was destroyed within an hour.

On December 1, 1972, Neunstetten was incorporated into Krautheim.

traffic

The state road L 515 from Krautheim in the southeast descends in Neunstetten into the Erlenbachtal and then runs down the stream to beyond Oberndorf. The district roads K 2886 from Assamstadt in the east-northeast and the K 2315 from Windischbuch in the north flow into this in the village. The Osterburken junction can be reached via the state road, and the Boxberg junction of the A 81 motorway via the latter district road. The nearest train stations, a little further away than these, are in the centers of the cities of Osterburken in the west and Bad Mergentheim in the northeast, each around 15 km away as the crow flies .

Landscape and protected areas

Neunststätten is surrounded by a hilly landscape that is mostly open and is used for agriculture. At the edge of the district to the southwest, west, north and east there is a forest in a non-closed ring. To the north-east of the village, in a side valley of the Erlenbach, lies the Im See nature reserve with some small reservoirs and their banks. The Erlenbachtal nature reserve begins at Neunstetten and Oberndorf downhill from the Untere Mühle . From Neunstetten, to the right of the Erlenbach and around its right tributary, Seebach , there is a large water protection area in the district marking that extends far into the two neighboring districts.
