history
Windischbuch
Finds from the Merovingian period bear witness to the first settlement activities in this region.
The settlement, which was apparently founded in the 7th century, was first mentioned in a book in 1252 . A beech tree can be found in the local coat of arms to this day. In 1578 the place appears with the name Windischen Buch , which reminds us that the village originated as a Wendish settlement.
The place once belonged to the Boxberg rule and thus from 1381 to the Lords of Rosenberg. They sold the village with the Seehof in 1535 to the Electoral Palatinate, which exercised sovereign rights until 1802. The Swedish Cross at the village exit reminds of the time of the Thirty Years' War to this day.
From 1803 to 1806 Windischbuch belonged to the Principality of Leiningen, then to the Grand Duchy of Baden. Up until the first half of the 20th century, Windischbuch was an agricultural place with the leasehold property in Seehof. On January 1, 1973 Windischbuch was incorporated into the town of Boxberg.
Seehof
From 1864 the former municipality of Seehof is counted as part of Windischbuch.
The Seehof estate was founded in the 13th century . The Hofgut, which has been largely empty since 1970, was bought up by the City of Boxberg in 2004 and redesigned in order to save the entire site, which is protected as a historical monument. After the administration building (2004-2005) was converted into an office building, the servants' house (2006-2007) was almost completely rebuilt and true to the original, before modern seminar, community and exhibition rooms were built in the old barn (2008-2009) and the stables .
