history

middle Ages

The origins of the settlement probably go back to the early Franconian period in the 6th or 7th century. In 1245 the place was first mentioned as Eppilingen . The place was originally closely connected to Wölchingen, once belonged to the Boxberg rule and therefore to the Lords of Rosenberg since 1381 .

Modern times

In 1561 the place came under Palatinate sovereignty and became the tithe Boxberg. However, the local rule was given back to the Lords of Rosenberg . After the lords of Rosenberg died out in the male line in 1632, the place came back to the Electoral Palatinate. In 1803 the place came to the Principality of Leiningen before becoming Baden in 1806. The office membership is identical to that of Boxberg. On January 1, 1973, Epplingen was incorporated into the town of Boxberg together with Angeltürn , Bobstadt, Lengenrieden, Schwabhausen, Uiffingen and Windischbuch .
