Neurochlitz is a district of the municipality of Mescherin in the Uckermark district in Brandenburg .

geography

The Uckermark town of Neurochlitz comprises two districts separated from one another by the Bundesstraße 2 and is located immediately west of the state border with Poland , about 3 km west of the Westoder .

history

Development of the village of Neurochlitz in 1949

Before the end of the Second World War, the area of the village was divided between Pargow (now Polish) and the later Mescheriner district of Staffelde. As a result of Poland's shift to the west and the associated border adjustments, which did not take account of historically grown administrative units, the area came to the state of Brandenburg after the end of the war and was initially fallow. On the initiative of the district administrator of the Saxon district of Rochlitz, Erich Knorr , it was decided in 1948 to build a new village. Old citizens from Rochlitz and the surrounding area, but also bombed-out people and resettlers from the former eastern German regions, should find a new home here. First a sawmill was built for the production of emergency shelters before the construction of new residential buildings began. At first 40 new farmers and two craftsmen settled in the new village, which was named Neurochlitz based on the origin of the settlers. The official foundation of the town took place on October 7, 1949.

Each family received around 10 hectares of land and some cattle to enable people from different occupational groups to start afresh in agriculture. The building sites were raffled. The stones for the construction of the building came by ship over the Oder to Gartz and were then transported to Neurochlitz with the support of Rochlitzer “Solidarity Columns”. A total of 41 houses were built. The school was opened in 1950, followed later by the village consumption , cultural center , kindergarten and post office.

On December 31, 2002 Neurochlitz was incorporated into Mescherin together with the neighboring towns of Radekow and Rosow .

Buildings

West of Bundesstrasse 2 is a small wooden church, built in 1901, which is the oldest building in Neurochlitz. Not far from there are two historical quarter mile columns, which are listed as architectural monuments in the Brandenburg State Monument List (km 420 and km 422.3).
