Solo bus in VLD design

The transport company Mittelhessen GmbH (VM) was a transport company based in Neu-Anspach , which in Mittelhessen public transport has operated.

The company was founded in December 2003 as a cooperation between five private bus companies from Central Hesse, which joined forces in order to be able to survive together in the future competition for transport services:

In 2006 the joint venture was bought by the Essen-based transport group Abellio GmbH. The previous medium-sized shareholders transferred the entire local transport operations of their companies to the Verkehrsgesellschaft Mittelhessen and since then have only operated the travel and excursion business independently. Hölzenbein completely withdrew from the company after the sale. Peter Medenbach, who was in charge of the joint venture even before the acquisition by Abellio, remained managing director. On July 1, 2008, Andreas Vetter was hired as the second managing director for the areas of integration, restructuring, driving operations, workshops and locations. Dorothee Röckinghausen and Wolfgang Orth have been the new VM management team since autumn 2012. On May 1, 2014, Jürgen von Glischinski succeeded Dorothee Röckinghausen in the management.

On November 1, 2013, Transport Capital AG bought VM.

Line bus traffic

Since 2004, the new company has applied for tenders for transports in the Central Hessian districts of Lahn-Dill , Marburg-Biedenkopf and Limburg-Weilburg and was able to win numerous line bundles that were previously operated by the DB subsidiaries Verkehrsgesellschaft Untermain (VU) and Regionalverkehr Kurhessen (RKH) were operated.

The Mittelhessen transport company won a line bundle in the Hochtaunus district and city bus services in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe and Oberursel (Taunus) in 2008 . In addition, it received the Friedberg line bundle in the Wetterau district , the Rhein-Main transport association line bundle "RTK-Grundnetz Wiesbaden Nord" and the "Rotenburg / Bebra" line bundle in the North Hessian transport association .

On December 12, 2010, the Mittelhessen transport company returned its lines in the Limburg-Weilburg district and in the Lahn-Dill district, as the quality requirements could no longer be maintained at the price level.

Due to the line returns, many VM buses were vacated. The haulage company three borders , at that time also a Abellio subsidiary , bought in 2010 some of these buses to use them in their own route network. In 2015 Taeter Aachen also bought some buses.

Since the beginning of 2015, massive passenger complaints have been gathering with the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund and its affected cities and communities . Line 271 ( Idstein - Wiesbaden ) is controversial . It will u. a. criticized the limited number of seats and the insufficient capacity of the solo buses. From December 2016, a new operator will make it possible to use articulated buses due to a change in the route in Idstein, which will presumably improve the situation.

In November 2015 the VM terminated the contracts with Bad Homburg vor der Höhe and Oberursel; in December 2015 the lines went to another operator. In June 2016, VM announced that it would return the Friedberg line bundle on December 11, 2016.

The company was dissolved on January 4, 2017.
