Neuschnee is a Viennese band around the Berlin- born composer Hans Wagner , which combines classical music with pop , grunge and electronics .

Band history

The band was founded in 2006 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and initially consisted only of the singer and composer Hans Wagner and a string quartet. The original members of the quartet were Philippreiber (violin), Florian Wildhalm (violin), Ina Nikolow (viola) and Frederic Couson (cello). The first album Wegweiser was released in 2008 as the first release by the Viennese independent label Problembär Records . For the 2011 album Bipolar , the string quartet has already been expanded to include drums and electronic elements. Most of the songs on the Bipolar album were recorded in the line-up that was retained for the Schneckenkönig album : Hans Wagner (vocals and various instruments), Clemens Wannebacher (drums), Julia Pichler (violin), Julia Lacherstorfer (violin), Wei-Ya Lin (viola), Raimund Seidl (cello), Benjamin Wuthe (live sound engineering). The Coro Siamo choir and a brass ensemble also contributed to the album Schneckenkönig .

style

With the album Bipolar at the latest it became clear that the band combines influences from classical music - according to their own statements even from the music of the Renaissance - with modern means of pop music. The texts, written and sung in German by Hans Wagner, deal with timeless and popular topics such as love as well as current social problems.

The reviewer certifies that the album Okay , which was released in early 2018, is class instead of mass (only 30 minutes long but without lengths), atmospheric density , deceleration, melancholy, bite .
