Neuthal is a hamlet in the political municipality of Bäretswil in the Hinwil district of the canton of Zurich in Switzerland .
The hamlet has its own train station on the former line of the Uerikon-Bauma railway , which is now served by the Zürcher Oberland steam railway association during the summer months .
The hamlet is also known for the industrial plant of the cotton industrialist and railway pioneer ( Jungfrau Railway ), Adolf Guyer-Zeller (1839–1899), which is now open to the public as the Museum of Industrial Culture-Neuthal .
Industrial culture Neuthal
The museum includes the departments of embroidery, spinning, weaving, hydropower (turbine), workshop, catacomb and the special exhibition 100 years of the Jungfrau Railway. In the museum spinning mill, spinning is shown in five work stages, from the cotton bale to the finished yarn on historical spinning machines. In spinning, weaving and embroidery there are functional machines from the last and penultimate centuries. The museum is open every first and third Sunday from May to October from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Sundays with steam train operation) and, on request, daily for guided tours for groups or schools.
