New Alcatraz is a 2001 American horror film directed by Phillip J. Roth .

action

New Alcatraz is a maximum security underground prison that was built in Antarctica . When drilling in the vicinity of the prison, a giant boa constrictor is freed from the ice without being noticed . The snake eats its way through the ice, the hole is only discovered days later by guards. The snake eats its way to the prison and kills three workers there. The prison administration made an emergency call that was picked up by the military. The married couple Robert and Jessica Trenton, both paleontologists, are said to provide advice to a military command. Arrived at the prison it turns out that only the guard Quinn and the guard Riley survived.

A soldier is attacked by the snake and killed. Quinn sets out with the soldiers to find the missing person. However, they are killed by a gas explosion that also attracts the snake. She attacks Robert and Jessica. Robert is able to escape to a security room, but is convinced that his wife fell victim to the snake. He can convince Riley to release the prisoners and use them to hunt down the snake. The prisoners draw up an escape plan. Mitich, one of the prisoners, separates, but is killed by the snake. Another explosion is triggered that kills Riley. The rest of the group found Jessica under the leadership of Brezhkov. When the snake attacks the group, Brezhkov and Jessica escape to the surface.

Meanwhile, Robert has come across the prisoner O'Boyle. The snake kills O'Boyle, Robert escapes. Robert, Jessica and Brezhkov get to the plane on which the command group and the Trentons arrived. The snake also reaches the plane and kills one of the pilots. Brezhkov will crash from the plane, as will the snake. With the surviving pilot, Robert and Jessica can get to safety.
