Newtown is a borough in Fairfield County in Connecticut , United States and is located within the Town of Newtown . At the time of the United States Census 2010 , the village had 1941 residents.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the Borough of Newton has a total area of 6.0 km 2 , without any significant body of water.
Demographics
At the time of the United States Census 2000, Newtown was inhabited by 1,843 people. The population density was 308.0 people per km 2 . There were 668 housing units, an average of 117.7 per km 2 . Newtown's population was 95.98% White , 0.38% Black or African American , 0% Native American , 2.17% Asian , 0.05% Pacific Islander , 0.49% said they were races and 0.92% named two or more races. 2.12% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of Newtown were distributed in 649 households out of which 39.9% had children under the age of 18. 69.2% of households were married, 7.4% had a female head of the household without a husband, and 20.8% were not families. 16.3% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 7.4% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.84 and the average family size 3.2 people.
The population was divided into 29.1% minors, 3.5% 18–24 year olds, 29.7% 25–44 year olds, 25.2% 45–64 year olds and 12.5% aged 65 and over or more. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 women there were 92.8 men. For every 100 women over the age of 18, there were 92.3 men.
The median household income in Newtown was 86,553 US dollars and the median family income reached the amount of 99,835 US dollars. The median income for men was $ 68,516 compared to $ 41,625 for women. The per capita income was $ 36,030. 1.8% of the population and 1.5% of families had an income below the poverty line , including 1.1% of minors and 7.5% of those aged 65 and over.
National Register of Historic Places
Part of the village - it is about half the area when it was incorporated in 1824 - was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996 as the Newtown Borough Historic District . Within the Historic District are buildings some of which date back to 1780, including the independently registered Glover House .
When it was established in 1996, the historic district comprised 225 contributing buildings, two other contributing structures, one contributing site, and two contributing objects, on approximately 40 acres .
The contributing site is Ram's Pasture , a meadow that was once a commons .
