Ngatiwhetu is a small Māori settlement in the Far North District of Northland on the North Island of New Zealand .
geography
Ngatiwhetu is located about 3 km west of Te Kao on the Aupōuri Peninsula . The settlement has direct access to the eastern part of Lake Wahakari . The Te Kao Stream , which drains Lake Wahakari , runs through the settlement and flows into Parengarenga Harbor around 5 km northeast at Tangoake . The west coast with Ninety Mile Beach is about 5 km to the west and the east coast about 8 km to the east. It is around 60 km to Kaitaia , a larger town in the south-southeast.
