The Lords of Nißmitz (also: Nismitz, Nissmitz ) were an aristocratic family from Thuringia and the Margraviate of Meißen with their ancestral seat Nißmitz near Freyburg an der Unstrut .

history

Bertoldus de Nysmicz had in 1349, according to the feudal book of Friedrich des Strengen , goods in Nißmitz and u. a. one yard and seven in front of Neuchâtel / Freyburg Castle according to Burgrecht. 1362 owned Berth. de Nizzmicz still feudal castle to Neuchâtel In 1449 the von Nißmitz family also held castle feuds at Naumburg. Altenroda belonged to the family for a long time, which also included “the dishes over neck and hand, top and bottom, in the field, hallway and village”.

Possessions

They also had properties in Birkigt , Dobichau, Dommitsch, Freyburg , Gröst , Großjena , Müchi , Nebra , Laucha an der Unstrut , Lauchstädt, Leißling , Obernessa, Pödelist , Schnellroda, Sonneberg , Weischütz and Wippach . Georg von Nißmitz was in the Fruitful Society: The Swallower. The epitaphs of Christoph von Nißmitz († 1671) and Christian von Nißmitz († 1678) are in the town church of St. Georg von Nebra . Further epitaphs from the 18th century can be found in Naumburg Cathedral . The family died out with the death of Johann Friedrich von Nißmitz in 1769.
